Dangling Modifiers and Participles Earrings

16.00

How do you feel when you read a sentence with a dangling participle or modifier at the end? I created these dangling earrings as an inside joke for astute writers and editors. (Is there any other kind?)

Writers and editors may find these earrings hilarious, but others won’t have a clue. Do you grind your teeth whenever you see a sentence where a dangling participle ends up?

To create them, I hand stamped the word "participle" and “modifier” on U.S.-made metal circles. I brushed the metal to give the earrings a subtle texture. The tin-based metal alloy is heavier than aluminum, but less expensive than sterling silver.

Choose your favorite combination of words for the earrings:

  • 2 modifiers

  • 2 participles

  • 1 modifier, 1 participle

Ear wires: Sterling silver
Sterling silver ear wires are a little more expensive than silver-plated or surgical steel, but they usually work well for people who have sensitive skin.

Length: 1 5/8" (4.12 cm)
Earring length is always measured from the top of the ear wire (the part that will be in your ear) to the end of the earring.

Technique: Hand stamped
Hand stamped items uses hand tools (a hammer and steel stamps) to add the letters and numbers one at a time. No lasers or machines! Because of the hand tools, you may notice light hammer marks or a brushed (not smooth) texture on the metal, particularly on the back.

If you would prefer a smooth surface on the back, ask me about creating a wood (not metal) laser engraved piece for you as a custom order.
